CLUB DIARY

 

We are sorry to report the passing of former member and bowls stalwart Freda Lyons who passed away on Friday 24th July 2026. Freda was an active member of the indoor club, especially with the juniors from the late 1990s where she began helping Janet and David Staples, and continued working with them when Colin Wilson took over through to when she retired about 10 years ago. Our thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends at this very sad time. Funeral arrangements will also be posted when they are known. Rest in peace Freda.

SIBC helping the community

On behalf of The Friends of Johnson Community Hospital, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to Maisie, Jan, and all the bowlers who took part and gave so generously.

The £250 raised has made a real difference and has played a major part in helping us fund the purchase of children’s toys for the Outpatients Department. For many children, visiting the hospital can be an anxious experience, and your donation has helped make those visits a little brighter and less stressful. We hope these toys will bring comfort and reassurance to the children and their families, and help to make future hospital visits feel a little less daunting.
